My father (Richard Becker) passed away from Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) on April 17, 2006. He fought a long difficult battle with this disease and stayed courageous through it all. Unfortunately, there is no cure for ALS. It was because of this, that I got involved with helping The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter throughout the year; and why I participate in the Black Woods Blizzard Tour.
In 2000, The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter started the annual Black Woods Blizzard Tour. It is their largest fundraising event. It is a 3-day snowmobile ride and fundraiser held in northern Minnesota. The Tour's motto is: "Never Surrender". This Ride to Fight ALS helps people with ALS and their families in our service area. Additionally, the funds raised go toward research to try to find a cure for this deadly disease
In cooperation with The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter and the Minnesota Twins, I have participated in the fundraiser every year since my father passed away. In addition, Tischler Wood is a sponsor of the event. In collaboration with Cambria and Dream Homes Interior Design, Tischler donates cabinets for the silent auction. I am committed to staying the course and look forward to the day a cure is found.
If you would like to sponsor my participation in this fundraising event, please click the link for the ALS website. Donations are 100% tax deductible and can be made throughout the year for the upcoming ride.
The Becker family holds the Dick Becker Memorial ALS Run 4 Research (5k-10k) at the family farm in Browerville every spring to help raise money. Thank you for considering joining forces with us in this worthy cause.
